1949 Mercury Eight Convertible

According to internet sources, there were 301,302 Mercury’s produced and sold in 1949, but only 16,725 were convertibles. Historically, the all-new 1949 Mercury was the Indy Pace car that year.

This is a solid western car with an older restoration.  Pretty Vermilion Red with extra nice black and red leatherette interior and parade boot. Black Hartz cloth convertible top. It is powered by a hot Mercury Flathead V-8 with a performance cam, 4 BBL carb and intake, finned aluminum heads, and exhaust headers feeding into the dual exhaust. 3-Speed “three-on-the-tree” manual transmission with overdrive.  Car has been updated to 12-volt system.  Car has power convertible top and power windows, but all work slowly.  Car starts, runs, drives, and stops well.

This is a really good solid car with good paint, beautiful chrome, glass, and interior but not perfect.  Great price for a vintage Merc Convertible.  Call me for an accurate description.
