1965 Chevrolet
Chevelle SS-396 Z16

VIN 138375K168043

It all started in early 1965 when the Bow Tie boys needed an answer for the GTO. They stuffed a high horse big block into a Chevelle SS, and then it started. The folks at Chevrolet marketed these limited cars by giving some to celebrities, and Dan Blocker (Hoss Cartwright of Bonanza TV series) was one who received a similar car.  This example was sold new in Georgia and is one of only 201 total manufactured and one of only approximately 76 listed and documented by the United States Z16 Registry. A complete no-expense-spared frame-off rotisserie restoration was completed 10 years ago in correct Regal Red exterior with black vinyl top, and red interior. Rebuilt L37 396-375HP V-8 with 4-Speed transmission.

In addition to the unique standard equipment on all Z16’s, this Chevelle has power windows, tilt steering column, and wood steering wheel options as well. At a previous Tom Mack Auction, we sold this car to a local collector who has sorted it out so it can be driven and enjoyed.  He says it’s time for this important piece of Chevrolet muscle car history to have a new caretaker. This is a rare and, very possibly, a once in a lifetime opportunity to own one of only a few Z16’s left in existence.

Hagerty Values Guide rates an AVERAGE Z16 at $168,000 and this museum-quality example is monumentally above average.  $169,000.  More photos upon request. Delivery & financing arranged.  Interesting trades considered 803-351-3695
